It is a common belief that the Church in Wales is a very wealthy body with millions of pounds it could spend on its buildings. This may once have been the case, but no longer. Now the Church is very much in the position of having to budget carefully in order to remain sustainable.
Smaller and older congregations can no longer by themselves support major repair costs when they arise. Luckily there are many charitable bodies that will help as long as their conditions can be met.
With this help and with community support and now the Heritage Lottery fund, there is some hope of keeping some of the lovely medieval churches in Wales open for everyone.
